About / Capstone project

ProfShelf is a Rowan capstone project built to make pantry access clearer, faster and more supportive.

Created for the Computing and Informatics Capstone Experiment led by Dr. Bo Sun, ProfShelf is an ongoing project in development that brings inventory visibility, request support, scheduling and donation information into one public-facing experience for Rowan's theSHOP and students.

Capstone presentation: April 24, 2026 at 9:00 AM in Robinson.

Purpose and direction

Why ProfShelf matters

Built around a real campus need

ProfShelf was shaped around the challenge of making pantry support easier to understand before students arrive in person. The project focuses on clearer information, smoother planning and a more welcoming digital experience for essential campus resources.

The current prototype brings together live-looking inventory, request workflows, pickup scheduling, updates and donations so the public flow feels connected instead of fragmented.

Designed to grow beyond the classroom

This is not framed as a one-time class deliverable. The team hopes ProfShelf can evolve into something more meaningful for Rowan's theSHOP and the students who rely on timely, respectful access to pantry support.

As development continues, the goal is to keep improving the experience with stronger workflows, clearer communication and a foundation that could support real campus use.

Milestones

Current project arc

1

Capstone framing

The project began as part of Rowan's Computing and Informatics Capstone Experiment, with an emphasis on creating a useful, community-facing solution rather than a purely technical demo.

2

Prototype in development

The current build organizes catalog access, requests, scheduling, updates, feedback and donations into a single prototype experience that can be reviewed, refined and presented.

3

Presentation day

ProfShelf will be presented on April 24, 2026 at 9:00 AM in Robinson as part of the team's capstone milestone and public demonstration of the work completed so far.
